LISBON BY DESIGN 2024

De La Espada is proud to once again sponsor Lisbon by Design, as part of our ongoing mission to support Portuguese creativity.

Running from 22 - 26 May 2024, Lisbon by Design, now in its fourth year, brings together some of the best contemporary design crafted in Portugal, sensitively presented over 10 exhibition rooms in the 19th century mansion Palacete Gomes Freire.

The exhibition includes a carefully curated selection of emerging and established creators operating in mediums including ceramics, textiles, timber, and more, exhibiting work created specially for the event.

AMANDE HAEGHEN

Inspired by the natural world, ceramicist Amande Haeghen creates lighting, furniture, and sculptures which she crafts from stoneware, porcelain and glass in her Lisbon studio. At Lisbon by Design, she will showcase the experimental side of her work, exhibiting wall pieces made of sandstone and molten glass and a large ceramic painting in six parts.

VIÚVA LAMEGO

Established in Lisbon in 1849, Viúva Lamego stands as Portugal's premier tile producer and a global ambassador for Portuguese culture. Renowned for its iconic contributions to public art and architecture worldwide, the brand's factory serves as a hub for artistic creativity, engaging national and international artists, designers, and architects alike.

To celebrate their 175th birthday, they present tile panels specially imagined for Palacete Gomes Freire in collaboration with renowned designers including Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance.

HUM GALLERY

Hum Gallery celebrates imperfection, storytelling, and the human touch, showcasing the work of carefully selected artists and designers. At Lisbon by Design, they present a special installation that includes hand blown glass by Martinho Pita Studio and wood furniture by Vasco Fragoso Mendes.


ORIGIN MADE

Origin Made creates furniture, lighting, and collectible objects in collaboration between renowned international designers and skilled Portuguese artisans. At Lisbon by Design, they present new designs by Gabriel Tan.


AZURE

Founded by Brazilian artist and designer Bhya Sugai, Lisbon-based Azure offers textile art that blends organic fabric, acrylic paint, and embroidery. Lisbon by Design will showcase an exclusive collaboration between Azure and ceramicists Pareidolia Design.
